Holly & Pauric’s wedding was a lovely wedding to be part of, my first visit of the morning was to meet the guys down at Mo’s cafe on the strand in Tramore – The guys got a coffee and sat overlooking Tramore beach, a flat 7km stretch of beach where kite surfers bob up and down the ocean and families fill on a summers day. I casually took some photos of the boys chilled and taking their morning in their stride. I had a beach walk, a cup of coffee and the boys photographed before 10 am, a great start to the day. The girls were getting ready a couple of miles away in Holly’s parent’s house so I dropped into the girl’s house to take some photos of the bride and bridesmaids preparation, their gorgeous dog even jumped into a portrait with Holly in her dress. I feel its important that I blend into someone’s day and become a fly on the wall, capturing real moments and real reactions without directing, real moments are caught when observing quietly.
Carbally Church is a stunning little country church down in a valley and surrounded by lovely beaches, one we regularly walk in the winter with our dogs is Saleen’s beach, it has great views of the sandhills from the back of Tramore. I have often used it for weddings shoots but this time we choose a little cove a couple of miles up the road to be the area we would take the couple portraits, I had visited it the week before with the bride and groom and bravely Holly and Pauric agreed to climb up (as you will see in the photos) a cliff face in a wedding dress to get get to a little piece of paradise, i spend my childhood here and knew it very well, it had the roundy bouncy grass, a burgendy colour cliff face and a lovely view down the coast. a perfect location for a shoot, we even had a boat pull over to say hello. every part of this “journey” gave photo opportunities from the guys climbing up the cliff face, walking through the bouncy grass to get to the location for the main location, some of the best photos taken from that session was the journey to and from the location shoot – one of my favorites is when they are walking back and Pauric is holding Holly’s dress and taking care of her.
Faithlegg house hotel was where the reception was had, the bride and groom enjoyed drinks in the hotel gardens at the back of the hotel, It was a lovely summers day, music played in the background, people enjoyed drinks in the sun and had some canapes. I captured the speeches and the funny reactions on people faces and finished my night photographing the first dance with the bride and groom. I will tell my grandchildren about how brave Holly was, that’s how impressed I was!
