Marian & Thomas held they’re wedding on the 1st of December and what an amazing day that came to be, the frost stayed all day, clung to the trees and grass from sunrise to sunset, it really was a perfect day. I had met the guys the week of their wedding at St Patrick’s church in Faugheen, Carrick on Suir to plan the photography side of their wedding. Marian had suggested this amazing quarry close by which had slate surrounding walls and turquoise water so we went to see this, which blew us all away – I made some suggestions to how best to take photos here and suggested that if I could be at one side of the lake and Marian and Thomas at the other we could create some lovely shadows on the water – Noting was a problem for the guys and on the wedding day Marian took the journey in her stunning dress with a cape over it across the slippery rocks, which was very much rewarded with amazing images. I have photographed 100’s of weddings and have to say Marian was one of the bravest brides I’ve ever met.
Lets zoom back to the morning, Thomas is a farmer as is his Father and they’re morning routine every morning inc his wedding morning was to go a feed the castle and check in on them – I stood back silently and captured Thomas, his Dad and there dogs walking down the foggy lane and feeding the castle – Wedding photography to me is about telling a story of a wedding day, its preparations and the emotion of everyone that is at the wedding, we then took the scenic drive across to Marian’s home to capture the glamour and gliss of the girls getting ready – we had just left a tranquil foggy lane with the boys and arrived at the excitment and madness of the morning preperations with the girls, Maria Hicky was the girls hair stylist and created stunning upstyles of Marian and her bridesmaid, where makeup was by the very talented cckmcin jbjkbkjbj. It was then off with the bride and groom to St Patrick’s church in Faugheen, down a country road in a vintage car in a scene that could have been from 100 years ago.
The Set Theatre in Kilkenny was where the reception was held and suited this wedding very well, The Set Theatre is part of Langtons Hotel in Kilkenny, the very renowned David Collins Studio of London designed this theatre to with no detail missed making this a stunning location different than most wedding location.
