I’m Keith, I have been lucky to work as a full-time wedding photographer for the past 15 years. Wedding photography is something that comes naturally to me. I like to keep things simple and blend into you’re wedding day, capturing moments as they naturally unfold in front of me. I work very light with just 2 cameras harnessed to me. You’re wedding day will have its own pace, and will take its own natural direction. I will capture this in the most unique and authentic way, ensuring to reflect who you are as a couple.
As for me and my background, I studied photography in Waterford Institute of Technology and graduated in 2003. I set my business up that year and photographed my first wedding. I used a film camera back then with 12 photos on a roll. Since then a lot has changed. Today, each one of my cards carry 1000 spaces for the highest quality images.
THE PLAN BEHIND A SEAMLESS WEDDING SHOOT
Planning is an essential part of making your wedding day run smoothly and at its own pace. For this reason I like to have two meetings with the couple before the wedding day. The most important meeting is a week before your wedding day. At this meeting we discuss the schedule for your day and the photographs you’d like taken. I’ll also gather contacts of people I can liaise with on the day. I always research you’re wedding location before the big day. This allows me to suggest beautiful places to have couple portraits taken at certain times of day.
These meetings will provide me with all the information I need to plan a seamless wedding shoot.
ALONG SIDE WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY, WHAT TAKES UP MOST OF MY TIME?
Being a full time wedding photographer is not like a job for me. Photographing a wedding excites me. I love the energy that a wedding brings. I get to see the most stunning parts of Ireland while capturing a couple’s most special day. This is a dream come true. I often travel with my wife who is a makeup artist and stay an extra day or two in the area. We get to discover new stunning parts of our beautiful country. As you can see, my lifestyle and my job are intertwined.
Our two kids are grown up and have flown the nest. However, our two dogs Brogie and Ambrea give us plenty of reason to visit the beautiful countryside and beaches in Waterford where we live. Funnily enough, and quite fitting, Ambera, our gorgeous dog, was rescued while we were on our own honeymoon in Sicily in 2016. We were staying in a quaint winery with nothing around us for miles. This small dog, only 3 months old, jumped into Sherise’s arms shaking. She now lives here with us in Ireland and is part of our family.
Travelling and food are my other passions. We usually spend January in Thailand living a simple life… eating street food and staying in a hut on a beach. The simplicity of it lets me have time to experiment with my cameras and get new fresh ideas for the year ahead.
MY WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY
You will see from my photography, I take a non-directive approach to you’re wedding day, preferring to blend into the crowd. You barely know I’m there. Soaking into someone’s wedding day lets me photograph real moments as they happen. Photographing those real moments is essential to capturing the raw emotion of you’re wedding story.
With the experience I have gained through the years, I know when and where to be to capture that special moment. I understand the flow of your day, and ensure that this is not interrupted by me. Most importantly, I know when to stay in the background to capture moments from afar, and when to step up and sort group or couple photos. Letting you’re wedding day flow at its own pace is a priority for me. I simply soak into your wedding day and tell your story through my cameras.
