Summer is here, so while the sun is shining there is no need to spend countless hours pining over your makeup bag and doing heavy full on makeup. Here is a step by step guide to a quick and simple summer look!
Opt for a tinted moisturiser, not only will it give hydrate your skin but it looks glowing and much more natural. Be sure to make sure it has some SPF in it, with the help of God we will have a nice summer this year and we will need a little protection. Laura Mercier and Bobbi Brown oil free tinted moisturizers and NARS Pure Radiance are some of the best.
Along the bridge of your nose and above the cheek bones, this will give you a lovely healthy glow.
also use a crème blush to give a better natural look. I am a big fan of Benefit’s High Beam and also MAC Luna or Pearl crème colour base. Maybelline have a new range of Dream Touch Blush, my favourite shades are 02 and 06 which are shades of pink and peach.
The 3 famous words – cleanse tone and moisturise! Essential before going to bed at night and once a week use a gentle exfoliate. I love Boots Tea Tree and Witch hazel scrub. Neutrogena fresh foaming cleanser is also fantastic, because it makes the skin feel so refreshed. La Roche Posay also has some fantastic products – I know they can be a little pricey but it pays to look after your skin. And of course there is no better hydration than plenty of water!
Good old fashioned lip balm is great for the winter, but for summer you want to gloss and shine it up a bit more! For the day time, a bright gloss with a little pop of pink or coral. Jazz it up at night then with a red or berry lip! Gorgeous. Smashbox O-Gloss, YSL Gloss stick in frozen cherry. Yes to Carrots C me blush lip tint is great to protect your lips and give a little bit of colour.
Go easy on the eyes for the summer; the last thing you want is to your face getting hot and your eye makeup to smudge. Opt for waterproof mascara and give yourself an extra coat. Sometimes just a good lick of mascara is all you need in the summer to give your eyes a wakening lift.
Use white eyeliner on your waterline – which instantly gives your eyes a bright fresh look. If you feel naked without your eyeshadow, keep it neutral. Opt for natural gold’s and skin colours. I am a huge fan of Urban Decay’s naked palette, it has all the colours you need to go from day to night. A little brush of black eyeliner above your eye and on your waterline in the evening instead of the white to give more depth to the eye.
Keep your brows natural and neat. Remember they frame our face and give our makeup that ‘finished’ look. Keep the shading a shade lighter than your hair and just follow the natural shape of your brow. Fill in any sparse gaps and give a quick brush through with some clear mascara and away you go. Keep it simple!
